- Finished a twisted ruffle scarf. We had a batt/roving challenge, where each person draws from the submitted batts ,spins, and assembles into a wearable object. I was given a batt of maroon wool that I spun and knit into a ruffled twisted scarf. This Thursday ( July 19th) I am going to the HGA Convergence Convention in Long Beach. The Studio 66 participants from May 2011 will be there to exchange their completed projects. I'm hoping whoever got my wool roving will be there. She's contacted me a few times, so I'm pretty sure she'll be there. It's very exciting for me to be making this first pilgrimage to the HGA Convergence. I've heard so much about it every year. Some of the ladies from my Southern California Handweavers Guild went last year to Santa Fe where they had a great time. Anyways, the scarf is shown below and off it goes.
This was some of the alpaca from Walter that I've been spinning in hopes of participating in the Tour de Fleece that Ravelry groups do each year to coincide with the Tour de France bicycle race. We set ourselves a challenge to spin so much every day during the race. Unfortunately, I had to complete my project for my recipient of Studio 66 batt/roving challenge. Lesson planning and household took my time and I was only available for my crafty things an hour or so before bed. Now that I'm done with the Studio 66 scarf, I can start spinning again, maybe get some weaving done that has been sitting on both my looms.
This is the alpaca fleece as it was gifted me from Walter last Christmas. I'm hoping to spin it all and make him a fine clothing piece to keep him warm by this coming winter. Don't know what that will be yet, but it will come.
