Season of Fiber

Have been having so much fun these past few weeks. In between my student teaching, every weekend has given me a reprieve from the drudgery of school work.  What better than to spin and learn from my sista/brother spinners and weavers.  Gathered here are some highlights from the many events we participated in.  I most loved the Olivas Adobe Festival, Cowboys, Heros & Outlaws.  Filled with interactive fun for the kids, we were teaching them to spin and weave.  Nona & Rose Mary from our Guild brought pre warped foam meat trays ready for weaving and some simple spinning home made tools that allowed the kids to actually spin their own little bracelets.  Diane from our guild contributed these nifty items that I am adding to my repetroire of information for the kids to explore/create the wonderful world of fiber.  Along with Allyns nifty little microscope where I can open the world of fiber up close and personal, I can now do a simple felt bead for stringing onto a bracelet or necklace, give kids a chance to spin wool, along with creating their own simple little woven rug.  I love watching the kids get excited about these creative outlets.  Hopefully we've opened a few doors for many.
